Experimental Analysis of Atmospheric Ducts and Navigation Radar Over-the-Horizon Detection

Since the height of sea detection radar antenna and ship targets is relatively low, it generally believed that its over-the-horizon mainly caused by evaporation duct at sea. To fully understand influence atmospheric ducts on detection, a shore-based navigation was used to carry out experiments; radiosondes were measure profile monitoring equipment duct. Based experimental data model simulation, comparative analysis radar’s duct, lower presented in this study. The results show can affect signal propagation radar, thus resulting detection. long-range strong while only form weak which different from general cognition.
